Our farm model is based on trying to partner with what God is doing in the world around us all the time.  Sun-energy is captured in native grasses which grow when the soils are healthy and moist.  This is why we call our chickens, Lamppost Farm Solar-Powered Chicken.  It is the grass that makes all the difference!  Chickens raised on grass contain significantly higher amounts of Omega-3 fats (good fats that fight heart disease) and Conjugated Linoliac Acids (known to fight cancer) as well as high protein.  Their consumption of grasses also decreases the amount of Omega-6 (bad fats linked to heart disease) in the meat.

We sell Solar-Powered Chicken for $3 per pound on the day of processing.  They are whole and weigh between 3-6 lbs.  We also shrink wrap and sell them frozen for $3.50 per pound.

As an attempt to facilitate our goals of providing healthy food, facilitating educational experiences and developing healthy people, we are offering the Lamppost Farm Chicken Challenge.  We will give a freeSolar-Powered Chicken for dinner if the following criteria are met:

1. Customer provides a receipt from a grocery store for a whole chicken of similar size.
2. Customer invites a friend or group of friends to dinner.
3. Both chickens are cooked side-by-side using the same receipe.
4. Print out survey and lead a dinner conversation including comparison of the two birds from preparation to clean up and completion of the survey (PDF link below).
5. Enter results of survey online.
