WELCOME TO LAMPPOST FARM
|
Named after the lamppost in the Chronicles of Narnia, Lamppost Farm is an entry-point into a new world where adventures unfold beyond the bounds of imagination, animals "talk", winter warms into spring, and character forms in relationship to the Great Lion.
Lamppost Farm exists to provide meaningful learning opportunities by engaging in purposeful and productive work, contagious relationships, and the celebration of "good ordinary food". Our goal is to use agriculture and its fruit to build individuals and groups in deeper relationship with themselves, one another, God, and God's creation. Whether raising and processing chickens; growing, making and canning salsa; milking the cow; or turning clay into a pizza oven; experiences at Lamppost Farm enable guests the chance to see with their eyes, hear with their ears, explore with their hands, and understand with their hearts. Ultimately, these encounters promote healing, hope-building, and a sense of home in our community. Take the risk. Step through the Wardrobe. We’ll see you at the Lamppost! |
We are here for you. . .
Considering world and local events, we hope to be people you can rely on. The Lamppost Farm team has decades of experience with Biblical wisdom, land management, education, ministry and holistic wellness.
As of now, our land and animals are showing no signs of degeneration resulting from the events in East Palestine, but we want to be confident in the cleanliness of our land and the products we grow on it for ourselves and our community. We are currently scheduling water tests for the four wells on the property and have plans to collect soil samples. That being said, we are so grateful that God’s design for this world is one of resilience. We have been called to carry on the regenerative and cleansing practices that we have been dedicated to since we began farming here in Columbiana in 2007. We have experienced first-hand the benefits of natural resilience through Covid, soil pollution and air pollution, and we will aim to remain resilient during a chemical drift.
Regarding bodily health, there are two basic theories. “Germ Theory” states that specific microscopic organisms are the cause of specific disease. Being unseen, this theory tends to prompt FEAR from an unknown invasion at any point. “Terrain Theory”, on the other hand, argues that if the terrain (body) is well and balanced, then germs, which are a natural part of life and the environment, will be dealt with by the body without causing illness. The same is true for your actual terrain: the more organic matter in your soil, the more resistant to toxins it will be. Phytoremediation (plants), mycoremediation (mushrooms) and pasture management or composting prove to be our best defense. There’s HOPE!
We make proactive decisions to nourish and strengthen the terrain of our land, our animals and our bodies every day. We support our bodies with antioxidants and nutrients, and eliminate toxins with detoxing strategies. There are many great resources we trust in our area to guide you in both of these:
In regards to healing our land, we have plans to plant sunflowers and inoculate with mushrooms on our property. We are happy to assist you in considering your properties. Some valuable resources to consider:

RISA TILLMAN (left):
HEAR FROM A PAST INTERN ABOUT HER EXPERIENCE |
“If God intended man to live on bread, why didn’t he make a bread tree? And the answer is that, in fact, God could have created a bread tree that produced crusty loaves of bread, but he prefers to offer us grain and invite us to buy a field and plant the seed. He prefers that we till the soil while he sends the rain. He prefers that we harvest the crop while he sends the sunshine. He prefers that we grind the grain and knead it and bake it while he gives us air in our lungs and strength in our arms. Why? Because he would rather we become partners with him in creation. Of course, God could simply supply our every need and solve our every problem.
But our God invites us into a creative partnership with him.” - Alan Hirsch “The Shaping of Things to Come”
"I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go - Psalm 32:8
